Managed Repairs and TPA's: Beat them at their own game

As the carrier continues to move into a remote work environment managed repairs networks and TPA's will continue to grow. Whether you participate within them or not, I think you may find it beneficial to know how we were able to take a mid sized restoration company and catapult ourselves into the third highest ranked vendor in the State in just under a month. The way we did this is also the genesis of Identishot, if they were going to see us as data points we started to question how to use that to our advantage.

The one metric they alerted us of was the, 'under 5 day' rule. We were to submit 70% of our estimates to them under that threshold. Job came in Friday afternoon? They didn't care, Monday was day 3. What we found was that the faster we submitted estimates, the more jobs they gave us. However, this also led to an increase in inspections that ended up not being covered losses. Now, this is where I lose most restoration guys, but it is where I see gold.

Around that time I had been yelled at by an angry CSAA adjuster for describing the worķ we did in a managed repair network as Independent Adjusting. I said the quiet part out loud. Being true didn't seem to matter to him. This dinged in my head as the answer to our TPA inspection woes. If I'm not supposed to help you determine coverage, then here is a 400.00 estimate for a sewer backup, here's another 325.00 for mold. They were not happy with those, but I would put my arms up and say that's not my job to determine such a thing. Remember, they can't say the quiet part out loud either. They were stuck.

We were closing out inspections and estimates as fast as they came in and we had to put ourselves on pause multiple times because we were getting too much work. Tripling the amount of jobs we had in under a month. All of a sudden we had the upper-hand, "Don't want to pay O/P? We are going to turn that one down then, sorry". That they really hated, but they couldn't suspend us, we were the top vendor n the area. We used their numbers to beat them at their own game and by utilizing Identishot, so can you.
